The inn grew out of the Christmas Place store across the street — a Smokies institution since 1986 — when its owners decided the town needed lodging as committed as their shop. The architecture went Bavarian alpine (steep gables, stone and timber, a courtyard tower whose glockenspiel chimes carols through the day), and the interior went permanent December: professionally trimmed trees on every floor and in every room, mantels garlanded, and a resident singing Santa whose evening lobby performances — storytelling, carols, remarkably good pipes — run most nights year-round, with appointment-grade appearances in season.
What keeps non-themed travelers returning is that the hotel under the tinsel is excellent: among the Parkway's most consistently top-rated for cleanliness and staff warmth, with a substantial hot breakfast buffet included, an indoor pool for winter trips, and the summer courtyard pool with its 95-foot twisting slide. Rooms run large — standard doubles through king fireplace suites and family suites with separate sitting areas — in a lodge-traditional style where the in-room tree feels inevitable rather than kitsch. An adults-first quiet wing exists for travelers who want the polish with less corridor-giggling.
December is the pilgrimage (book eight months to a year ahead; the inn's own light displays join Winterfest's), but the inn argues persuasively for Christmas in July — same Santa, same trees, summer pool weather. It sits mid-Parkway at traffic light #2A, minutes from everything, with the great store across the street for emergency ornament needs. Book directly; the themed suites and December go first.

Is it really Christmas all year?
Completely — trees, garlands, carols, and the singing Santa's lobby shows run 365 days. July guests get the full December, with better pool weather.
Is it well-kept under the theme?
That's its quiet reputation: one of the Parkway's most consistently top-rated hotels for housekeeping, breakfast, and staff warmth, independent of the tinsel.
How far ahead should we book December?
Eight months to a year for December weekends — holiday pilgrims rebook on checkout. Fireplace suites and family suites go first.
